They told us that the work of becoming an ACO involves engaging a range of clinicians, harnessing excellent health information technology to analyze data, and having in place committed leadership. A foundation in patient-centered primary care is critical. If enough payers work together to send consistent signals to the delivery system about the results they expect, we think there is a better chance that these will succeed.
