“The Marketplace
provides vital health care coverage to more than 10.3 million
Americans and we want to be a resource for consumers left
without options. Our decision to offer coverage in the bare
counties speaks to our mission and commitment to the Marketplace
and serving those who are in need of health care coverage.”
-Pamela Morris, President & CEO, CareSource
In 2017, 8.7 million people (84% of all
marketplace enrollees) received tax credits to cover a share of
their premium and 5.9 million people (57% of all marketplace
enrollees) received cost-sharing reductions.
The surprise Monday announcement comes
after Anthem said in June it would leave the rural health
exchanges but keep offering plans in more-populous counties.
