Health Affairs recently conducted a study on the participation of narrow-networks in the ACA marketplace, that were involved in mental health care. For the study, researchers examined data on 531 unique provider networks in the ACA marketplaces in 2016. Narrow network plans included just 24% of all primary care providers and only 11% of all mental health providers practicing in state marketplaces. Overall, only 43% of psychiatrists and just 19% of non-physician mental health care providers participated in ACA narrow-network plans, the study found.
