Health Insurance Marketplaces in 2016: What to Expect
With the third open enrollment period
for health insurance marketplaces launching November 1st, this
briefing on October 5th took a detailed look at what consumers
can expect regarding premiums, health plan availability and
affordability. Speakers provided the latest information about
premium trends and drivers, health plan availability and new
tools designed to
help consumers make informed choices. They highlighted changes
from last year and explained survey data addressing barriers to
enrollment.

Characteristics of the estimated 10.5 million uninsured individuals
who are eligible for qualified health plans in the Marketplace in 2016:
1. Over 46% are between the ages of 18 and 34
2. 39.5%% have incomes between 139% and 250% of
the federal poverty level
