A POLITICO analysis shows that insurers, on average, spent 78% of
premium revenues on customers' medical claims through the first nine
months of this year. Health Care Service Corp., spent just 70% of
premium revenues on medical costs through the first three quarters of
this year. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, spent less than
70% of premium revenues on medical claims for its more than 500,000
customers through the first nine months of this year.
