“Patients’ access to data
will drive improvements in quality, cost, and the care experience. Many
members of the American Medical Group Association have used patient
portals for years to give patients access to their medical data and help
them better manage their health. It is exciting to see New York take
this step by bringing together this kind of data for patients who do not
have access to it because they are not being cared for by an integrated
delivery system. However, our members have found that essential
components for success are robust patient education about using portals
and an active care team that encourages their use. Providers need to
help patients become comfortable using portals and understand how the
data relate to health and personal accountability. If New York can
address those needs, this initiative should increase data transparency
and patient accountability and lead to healthier, engaged patients.” Don

Group Association (AMGA) |

MedData Group
surveyed 532 physicians between December 2013 and March 2014 on their
use of mobile technology. Despite some skepticism, two-thirds use some
kind of mobile technology in their job -- the most common being
medication interactions -- and 60% said they would use a new technology
in the next 12 months if it would enable mobile EHR access.
