"Beginning 2014, millions
of previously uninsured people in the US will be rolling into health
plans through the exchange provisions in the Affordable Care Act,
leaving their carriers with the task of risk identification of members
with little if any historical personal health information. Consequently,
traditional claims- or EHR-driven predictive models will be either weak
or unobtainable for the newly insured. Most all individuals, however, do
generate consumer information, which can be used for health risk
indexing; therefore, I’d expect in preparation for dealing with this PHI
void, healthcare organizations will be developing predictive models
using these data more prevalently in 2013.”
