"According to a recent
report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, three-fifths of CEOs are concerned
about the availability of skilled IT workers. That would include the
supply of really qualified predictive modeling talent. And we have to
remember that even though many in IT try to deny it, healthcare is its
own animal. We have found attracting talent relatively straight-forward,
but with the vast data set we’re sitting on that is not surprising. The
key is probably not just offering the right package, but also the
opportunity to do some really interesting work with really interesting
data. It’s also important to get your modeling staff in the loop with
the businesses so they understand the problems, both in healthcare and
in the solution development. This way they remain engaged and contribute
across the enterprise.” Bill Fox JD MA, Senior Vice President of Payer

In 2013, the general perception among data miners is that data volumes have increased (72% say so). However, the datasets they report using are of similar size to what was reported in 2007. Additionally, only 13% report that their company has an active Big Data program.
