“Probably the biggest changes are the ones that can’t be seen. Clearly, the Internet of things, wearables that accurately record clinically significant measures and advances in databases will drive the output of analytic models into the workflow and allow tactical data-based decisions in the workflow, not just strategic. What remains to be seen is what advances in deep learning, AI and other pieces of the puzzle will bring to the formula. How will models be generated and tuned? Will they fluidly adjust to input streams? Also, will the rumblings around the negatives of AI bring unexpected regulatory hurdles? There seems to be no doubt models will become progressively more predictive and have more influence in day-to-day decision making. The interesting part will be the changes that we can’t see now.”
