ACOs are actually up and running, everything is still more in the
planning stage. I’ve heard plenty of talk about using predictive
analytics for population health management, which is a core part of the
underlying ACO concept. By definition, ACOs are taking responsibility
for a population in their surrounding community, eventually reaching the
point where they are taking on financial risk for that population -- for
example, CMS’ Shared Savings Program for ACOs. So creating a disease
