There is a strong belief that access to clinical data will improve predictions, a belief that is probably correct. However, trying to separate ‘signal’ from ‘noise’ in clinical data is not easy. (My UK clinical dataset with 800,000 lives has 15 million hypertension observations and even more lipid observations). Without the equivalent of the claims-based clinical grouper models, trying to make sense of this data is no easy task. And heaven help us when we start to look for the predictive needle in the Fitbit haystack.”
