"I and my colleagues
at Johns Hopkins continue to be very interested in the numerous risk
adjustment/predictive modeling implications of the ACA. With regard to
the HIE/marketplaces, suffice it to say these issues are not front and
center right now, but once things are up and running, they will move
closer to the front burner. We are developing tools that HIEs and
qualified health plans can use to manage all this. Also, as accountable
care organizations and patient-centered medical homes continue to
mature, supporting them with PM tools will become ever more important...
All in all, we expect 2014 to be a very interesting and exciting year
for the predictive analytics field.” Jonathan Weiner DrPH, Professor&
Director of the Center for Population Health IT & CEO of the ACG Team,
Johns Hopkins University |

Alacare Home Care and Hospice, the largest privately owned home health agency in Alabama, reports a 20.4% increase in the number of patients identified as clinically appropriate for hospice transfer, its directors report. They call the development “substantial,” as, they note, “numerous statistics show viable patients prefer and benefit from hospice care.” The increase comes 60 days after deploying Medalogix’s predictive modeling hospice transference suite.
