athenahealth: Comparison of Physician Financial Footing and Hours Worked Under FFS and VBP Models

1.
Among physicians who use VBP only: 31% believe their organization/practice is on solid financial footing; average amount of time worked after normal business hours was 12 hours per week.
2. Among physicians who use FFS only: 35% believe their organization/practice is on solid financial footing; average amount of time worked after normal business hours was 15 hours per week.
3. Among physicians who use both VBP and FFS: 47% believe their organization/practice is on solid financial footing; average amount of time worked after normal business hours was 16 hours per week.

Notes: Results from athenahealth's third annual Physician Sentiment Survey conducted by The Harris Poll, which polled 1,003 primary care and specialist physicians nationwide. VBP: value-based payment model; FFS: fee-for-service payment model.
