CMS: 7 New Measures to the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program

Hospital harm-falls with injury
2. Hospital harm-postoperative respiratory failure
3. 30-day risk-standardized death rate among surgical inpatients with complications.
4. Patient safety structural measure
5. Age-friendly hospital measure
6. Catheter-associated urinary tract infection standardized infection ratio stratified for oncology locations
7. Central line-associated bloodstream infection standardized infection ratio stratified for oncology locations

Note: The patient safety measure and age-friendly hospital measure will take effect in the 2025 reporting period; the 30-day risk-standardized death rate measure begins with the July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025 reporting period; the rest will begin in 2026.
