The National
Association of ACOs and Leavitt Partners report that the nation’s
accountable care organizations are “considering or have firm plans to
participate in” future risk-based contracts – 47% say they’re planning
for shared savings or shared risk and 38% report planning for capitation
– but add that, so far, “care management strategies arelargely
unchanged.”

Health Economics and Outcomes Research in the Era of Value-Based
Care and the 21st Century Cures Act
A panel discussion focused on how the 21st Cures Act has
increased focus on real-world evidence (RWE), from an
educational symposium sponsored by Cardinal Health during the
22nd Annual ISPOR International Meeting. Within oncology,
regulatory issues limit clinical trial participation to 3% of
cancer patients who differ from the real-world population.
However, RWE is criticized for inadequacies in validating drug
label expansions. New methods to address these challenges are
discussed.
